Folks, take it from me....Cowboy Jack,
the Sons of the Oregon Trail are the best duo since
Jesse and Frank, Stan and Laurel, and Batman &
Robin!!!  Where else can you hear great cowboy
music and poetry rolled up into one act?
Skip Bessonette will shake the barn-side walls with
his strong, baritone vocals and Butch Martin will
make the words from both traditional and
contemporary cowboy poetry ring loud & true....

Skip and Butch,
Thanks so much for sending the promo package including the photo and the two lovely CD’s.
Both of the albums will be getting lots of
“Swingin’ West” airplay.  As I said in my
previous e-mail, I don’t do much poetry on the show but it really is nice the way you do it interwoven with song.
Good luck and let’s stay in touch,
Mike   www.swinginwest.com

We booked the Sons of the Oregon Trail as the opening act for a major headliner and the Sons of the Oregon Trail out-performed them in all respects.

Sons of the Oregon Trail
If you are looking for a joyous musical/lyrical
time, then you need to see Butch and Skip
perform.  A truly unique blend of cowboy poetry
and country folk music offers listeners an
opportunity to step back in time and reminisce
on times past.  Audiences have been so pleased
that they have even stayed on, even through a
rainstorm.  Witty and charming are the two words that sum up this act....

Skip and Butch,
I got your CD's yesterday and have enjoyed listening to them. I will be playing them on KZEE.  You have a different sound than most of the people around here. I especially like the old Western songs and the Ian Tyson songs. Also, the poetry has a different take. I like it, too.
Thanks!

Dear Skip,
After repeatedly listening to your two CD's, "Saddle Songs and Campfire Tales" and "West on Faith", I am so touched and enraptured that I scarcely manage to find the right words for my comments.  I can only say  they both are stunning releases.  It's my music, it's the music I love, it's the gentle and charming spirit of the West at its' best!  Congratulations!  The Sons of the Oregon Trail did a fantastic work!
I am neither a keen connoisseur nor an experienced music critic.  Just as a simple, sincere, enamored fan of the American West and of all that can embody its magic atmosphere and its' epic history.   Let me say that your music opens my heart to the fascination of that land and leads my mind on the wings of freedom, along those vast spaces, those enchanting landscapes, those moving stories and plain feelings of a rugged humanity who shaped and built a great country like yours.  Your music is really an outstanding tribute to a tradition - the Western tradition - which is timeless and unique.
I must also add my sincere congratulations for the fine performance.  Your voice, dear Skip, is warm and captivating.  And Butch is a worthy partner with his vocals and nice talking.  The instrumentation is essential, plain, excellent, and expresses the typical western musicianship.  All sounds so good, so handsomely traditional..... What else can I say?  Hats off!  And thank you very much for the splendid moments your tunes are giving and will always give to me in the future.
.............. I renew my true and enthusiastic appreciation for your work.  Thanks for keeping up our beloved Old West.
Sincerely
